Goddess Lucina -
Goddess Lucina - Protection Against Evil Eye, 2005 - Lucina is a strong, feminine Roman Goddess. In my visual representation of her, Lucina has sacrificed herself by taking on evil in order to protect those she loves. Each skin patch on her body represents a victory against evil. They serve as a constant reminder to her just cause. Lucina's face paint provides a distraction during her battle with evil. She wears a necklace with the evil eye protection charm as a symbol of who she is. In the old Roman calendar, the Winter Soltice fell on December 13th, the darkest night of the year. Her temple was built in 735 BC. Roman women called on her for protection against the evil eye. To this day, she is sung to in the song, "Santa Lucia". In Sweden, Goddess Lucina is honored on this day with a festival! |
