A Saint Watches Over You, 2005, - I was lucky enough to have met a saint in this lifetime. Whenever she spoke about God, her beautiful face radiated and I could feel her warm loving energy. She was devoted to God and the religion she was brought up with. I was (and still am) more spiritual than religious. The combination of our interests complimented our friendship. God must have had plans for this beautiful soul and she left this earth on February 13, 2001. Her physical being is no longer here, but I know she has not gone forever as I felt the presence of her spirit on numerous occassions. When it is my time to go, we will be reunited and spend time talking about the great power of God's love. A saint watches over me and I know a saint is watching over you.

About The Style

When I create a portrait, I intentionally abstract some portion of the facial features. I do this to symbolize the uniqueness of the individual and also to give the viewer an extra sense of interest. The viewer can recognize and feel comfortable with the normal facial features, yet there is a sense of disturbance by the abstraction and arrangement of the features. This is an invitation for the viewer to be drawn into the portrait.
