Seated Angels - Mother & Child, 2003Seated Angels - Mother & Child, 2003 12x16 Print $30.00 (shipping included)

Seated Angels - Mother & Child - is an example of abstract surrealism that takes formal geometric and organic shapes to create the appearance of both angels. When thinking of surrealism, perhaps the first thing that comes to mind are the dream-like illusions and juxtapositions rendered in the form of an illustration of familiar things depicted with objects still very familiar to the eye. Surrealism can be representational of a dream or thought to include realistic figures in an unrealistic manner. Abstract surrealism on the other hand renders its illusions of familiar subjects only in an abstract representation of surrealism with unrealistic forms such as the seated angels. We can usually recognize an image of an angel by its features such as its wings. At first glance, Seated Angels - Mother & Child could be looked at as just being a non-representation of abstract forms. With the title and an analysis of the work, it is possible to see the forms come together to give an appearance of seated angels, making it both surreal and abstract.
