Protection Against Negative Thinkers, 2003 Protection Against Negative Thinkers - The evil eye is the name for misfortune (bad luck, disease, accidents) transmitted by someone who is envious, jealous, or covetous. It is generally believed that the misfortune is not necessarily intended by the originating person. In Turkish, the misfortune brought by the evil eye is called "Nazar", in Italian it is called "mal occhio" (evil eye), in Spanish "mal ojo" (bad eye), in Hebrew "ayin ha'ra" (the evil eye), in Persian "bla band" (the eye of evil). The evil eye belief and their protective evil eye charms are quite widespread in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. It is generally thought that when the evil eye people carry on them or hang on their walls are damaged for apparently no reason, people or their property have actually been protected from an evil eye effect. It is very common in Turkey to give evil eyes as gifts to people who move to a new apartment, for example. We could all use a little protection from the evil eyes that try to penetrate and destroy our happiness! |
